Description

Two hundred years ago, Missouri’s entry into the Union sparked a nationwide crisis that nearly led to the dissolution of the Union and a civil war. Northerners were angered when they heard that abolitionists in Missouri were being attacked. In response, abolitionists began sending aid and more abolitionists to Missouri. Join Matt White, a PhD candidate at Ohio State University, to hear about “Bleeding Missouri” and how Americans prepared for (and imagined) the civil war of 1821.
