Description

Citizens of the St. Louis area are often reminded of just how powerful the Mississippi River is when waters rise. Robert Stout of Strategic Outreach and Planning, LLC discusses the factors that contribute to flooding as well as some actions that governments, organizations, and individuals can take to make our river communities more resilient. Nicholas Pinter, Shlemon Chair in Applied Geosciences at University of California Davis, shares the stories of communities that have successfully adapted to the river through a process known as managed retreat.
